Founded by K. Gopalakrishnan, UCAL has a rich history of automotive innovation. Starting with the local manufacture of Dunlop bicycle pumps and Bosch Ignition coils, UCAL quickly established itself as a key player in the automotive components market. The family's involvement in founding institutions like the Madras Race Track and Racing Club, the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), and the Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) further solidified UCAL's position as an industry leader.

Continuous Innovation and Expansion

In the 1980s, UCAL ventured into a joint venture with Mikuni for carburettor manufacturing, introducing Japanese quality systems to India. The establishment of the Krishnamurthy Centre for Automotive Excellence (KCAT) and UCAL Polymer Industries (UPIL) in the 1990s further enhanced UCAL's capabilities in design, testing, and manufacturing.

In the 2000s, UCAL embarked on a path of global expansion through the acquisition of US-based aerospace, defence, and automotive supplier Amtec Precision, now known as UCAL Systems Inc. This strategic move expanded UCAL's reach into the aerospace and defence segments, with a focus on drone technology.

Expanding Horizons in Africa

With a strong commitment to quality and a rich legacy of success, UCAL has established itself as a trusted partner for leading OEMs like Bajaj, TVS, Piaggio, Hero, Suzuki and Royal Enfield supplying OE carburetors for their 2 and 3-wheelers and supplying oil pumps, vacuum pumps and fuel rails to Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Fiat, Hyundai and Ashok Leyland for their passenger car and commercial vehicle applications.

Building on its success in India, UCAL is now poised to expand its footprint in its key target market - Africa. While the company has been supplying carburettors for Bajaj and TVS 2-wheelers and 3-wheelers in Africa through its partners, UCAL is now ready to directly enter the African market and establish itself as a key player in the aftermarket segment. Barring carburettors UCAL is also launching a plethora of two-wheeler and three-wheeler products exclusive to the African market (Shock absorbers, Horn and Front Fork-Inner Tube)
